This interchangeable lens for single-lens reflex cameras features the AF mechanism with
a standing wave ultrasonic motor
"PZD (Piezo Drive)"!

The driving principle is to apply a high-frequency voltage to a piezo (piezoelectric ceramic) element, causing it to expand and contract.
This causes the entire element to move in a standing wave motion,
and by wriggling it,
the metal tip attached to the end of the element draws an elliptical motion,
and the friction with the rotor (the object to be rotated)
achieves the rotational motion of the motor!

Also, it is quieter than a DC motor,
and allows for quick focusing☆
With a simple structure with fewer parts,
it also contributes to a significant reduction in the size and weight of the entire lens☆
